theatre

In theatre today, we had to create a theme for our skit. I loved how we couldn't speak which made us think more about movement and eye contact. We had to use a specific amount of space, so we had to work with the space we had which helped us build up new ideas and use space in different levels. Although there were some hard times where we couldnt all fit in the little square, we took advantage of all the space we could use. As i said earlier, we couldnt use dialog so we had to emphasize our movements and eye contact to convey our theme and our story. It was not easy, but it was fun!

ted talk

Watching the ted talk made me realise many things about storytelling which helped me make a connection to devising. Acting with no dialog using lights, eye contact and creating the mood using different background music emphasises our movements x10 more, making it more obvious to the audience about how we feel, what were doing, and set the setting. It makes the audience want to know more, makes them curious. All stories have a moral and the art of story telling is what leaves the audience with the moral. story telling helps us, break the ice, be more collaborative and more confident. with devising, its basically stories combined together creating a built up devised work. We could add music, movement, and also, a dance to create a greater mood and emphasise the climax in the devise work. With devising,  I need to effect the audience, maybe relate the story to them so they could put themselves in my shoes and feel for the moral of the devised work.

acting sunday

At the begining of class we had meditation which was really nice because it helps us focus and forget all our worries and problems. It helps us release all our stress and anxiety. I met many people that I didn't know. I started feeling more comfortable around class and talking to new people. I love how we all work together to makeup the story line of our 5 minute skit. We did many activities that helped me better understand movement and the power of eyes and how one look can tell your feeling and can foreshadow what you're about to do next. I find this class very helpful for my own life with being not socially awkward and more outgoing.

theater september 1

In the past class we learnt some new techniques and got into groups of 2 and created a "dance" at first when i saw the video it didn't seem fun but later while actually trying it it was actually really fun i enjoyed it and took risks with doing a lifting flip that i didnt think i could do it but i did so i learnt that about myself and also i learnt how important eye contact is and how it could make meaning to anything.
